Expedition Files Returns for Season 3 on Discovery Channel

 Josh Gates reopens history’s mysteries in a new season of the 'Expedition' spinoff series. 

Josh Gates is back with a third season of Expedition Files, premiering November 2025 on Discovery Channel.

The new season sends Gates on a time-traveling journey through some of history’s most enduring enigmas, uncovering fresh evidence and bold new theories that could challenge what we think we know.

The season premiere delves into an explosive new theory about the fate of Teamsters leader Jimmy Hoffa, whose 1975 disappearance remains one of America’s great unsolved mysteries. Gates also investigates a remarkable artifact that may hold the key to the Holy Grail and takes to the high seas to explore the mysterious disappearance of German inventor Rudolf Diesel.

Future episodes promise more revelations, including a chilling new hypothesis surrounding the Salem Witch Trials, a forensic re-examination of the most famous Bigfoot footage ever captured, a twist in the story of Cleopatra’s death, and a renewed hunt for Russia’s missing Amber Room – long dubbed the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Elsewhere on Discovery, Gates will return for the 16th season of Expedition Unknown.

Season 3 of Expedition Files premieres November 5 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on Discovery Channel.
