The psychological thriller will return for a second season.
Prime Video has ordered a second season of its psychological thriller We Were Liars.
Season 1 followed Cadence Sinclair Eastman and her inner circle – the Liars – through gilded summers on a private New England island, where a life-altering accident exposed fractures beneath the Sinclair family’s wealth and polish.
Julie Plec and Carina Adly MacKenzie, showrunners and executive producers, said:
“We loved making this show with so many spectacular humans. The fan response was truly special. There are still plenty of secrets buried on Beechwood Island and we can’t wait to keep digging them up.”
E. Lockhart, author of the source novel, said:
“MacKenzie and Plec have big, big plans for Season Two, including everything readers of my books are dying to see onscreen – and a lot of surprises as well.”
Erin Underhill, president, Universal Television, said:
“The season two renewal of We Were Liars is yet another testament to Julie and this cast and crew’s extraordinary talent… this series absolutely deserves a deeper dive.”
Laura Lancaster, head of Co-Production and Ongoing Series, Amazon MGM Studios, said:
“Delving deeper into the thrilling world of E. Lockhart’s novels with a second season of We Were Liars was a no-brainer… we can’t wait to see what they have in store for Season Two.”
We Were Liars Season 2 is slated to release in 2026 on Prime Video.
