Paramount+ with Showtime has picked up The Chi for Season 8. The renewal comes just under two weeks after the show returned for Season 7 on May 18.

The season premiere drew 2 million viewers across platforms within its first seven days, marking the most-streamed debut in the series’ history. The Chi has remained one of the network’s flagship dramas since its launch in 2018.

Created by Lena Waithe, the series explores the lives of working-class residents on the south side of Chicago. It follows a group of strangers whose lives intersect through chance and tragedy, in a community where everyday choices carry high stakes.

Season 8 will continue streaming on Paramount+ with Showtime, and is slated to premiere in 2026.
