Netflix has cancelled Terminator Zero after one season.

Series creator Mattson Tomlin confirmed the news on social media, noting that while the show was well received, viewership ultimately fell short of what was needed to continue:

“It was cancelled. The critical and audience reception to it was tremendous, but at the end of the day not nearly enough people watched it. I would’ve loved to deliver on the Future War I had planned in season’s 2 and 3, but I’m also very happy with how it feels contained as is.”

Tomlin added that Netflix had been supportive throughout production despite the project’s scale and cost, even offering the opportunity to produce additional episodes to provide further closure; an option he declined in favor of preserving the story as originally conceived.

Tomlin had envisioned a five-season plan for Terminator Zero.

The sci-fi anime series follows a soldier sent back in time to alter humanity’s fate. Arriving in 1997, she must protect scientist Malcolm Lee as he develops an artificial intelligence system intended to rival Skynet, all while being pursued by a relentless assassin from the future whose actions reshape the destiny of Malcolm’s children.

Terminator Zero Season 2 will not be picked up and continued on another platform.
