On Call Cancelled By Prime Video

No Season 2 for the police drama.

Prime Video has cancelled On Call after a single season. The decision comes four months after the police procedural debuted its eight-episode run on 9 January 2025.

Produced by Wolf Entertainment and Universal Television, On Call starred Troian Bellisario as Officer Traci Harmon, a seasoned training officer, and Brandon Larracuente as her rookie partner, Alex Diaz. Set in Long Beach, California, the series employed a cinéma vérité style, incorporating bodycam, dashcam, and cellphone footage to depict the officers’ patrols. The narrative also explored the aftermath of a fellow officer’s murder during a routine traffic stop.

Despite mixed critical reviews, the series resonated with viewers, reaching the top spot on Prime Video’s U.S. charts shortly after its release. Nielsen reported that during the week of 20–26 January 2025, On Call ranked as the tenth most-watched original program across all streaming platforms, with 297 million minutes viewed.

Sources indicate that renewal discussions between Prime Video and the production companies fell through due to financial disagreements. While there were initial talks of a two-season renewal, the show’s performance reportedly did not meet the platform’s expectations, leading to its cancellation.

Producers are currently exploring options to continue the series on other platforms, including Peacock and an undisclosed network.
