MGM+ has renewed its hit thriller horror series The Institute for a second season, commissioning eight new episodes based on Stephen King’s bestselling novel.

The series comes from MGM+ Studios, with King serving as executive producer alongside director Jack Bender (Lost, Game of Thrones, Mr. Mercedes, FROM) and writer Benjamin Cavell (Justified, The Stand).

Season 1 delivered MGM+’s best premiere ever, signaling strong interest in the adaptation. The cast featured Ben Barnes, Mary-Louise Parker, Joe Freeman, and an ensemble including Simone Miller, Fionn Laird, Jason Diaz, and Jane Luk. Casting for the second season will be announced later.
