The Guest has been renewed for a second season at BBC One, confirming a follow-up to the psychological drama’s first run.
Set and filmed in Wales, the series follows Ria Powell, a cleaner who has never had much time or opportunity to consider what she actually wants from life. That changes when she starts cleaning for Fran Sharp, a confident, self-assured business owner who encourages Ria to take control of her own life. As Ria begins to flourish under Fran’s influence, an intense friendship develops between the two women.
That friendship takes a darker turn when Fran’s advice leads to a shocking event, tying the two women together through shared secrets and increasingly dangerous plots. From there, the series becomes a manipulative game of cat and mouse, with the show’s central question being who is really playing whom.
The renewal isn’t entirely unexpected. Writer, creator and executive producer Matthew Barry indicated last year that further episodes were always part of the plan:
“From the start, we planned to come back for another season.”
Lead actress Gabrielle Creevy, echoed that sentiment when asked about the possibility of a second series, noting:
“I would hope so! I think so.”
Creevy stars as Ria Powell, with Eve Myles starring opposite her as Fran Sharp. Both are expected to return for Season 2.
The Guest Season 2 is slated to premiere in summer 2027 on BBC One.
