Tell Me Lies has been cancelled after two seasons, with tonight’s Season 3 finale now set to serve as the drama’s final episode.

Creator Meaghan Oppenheimer confirmed the news on Instagram ahead of the episode’s release, affirming an organic end to the series:

“Tonight’s series finale is always the ending my writing team and I had in mind, and we are insanely proud of it. Your incredible response to this season inspired us to explore whether there was another organic way to continue the story, but ultimately we felt it had reached its natural conclusion. My main goal has always been to protect the quality of the show and give you the best experience I can give you. And so, while it is bittersweet to leave something that has been such a happy experience, I am very grateful that we are able to tell a complete story with an intentional ending – a privilege very few shows get. Thank you for loving our show. We are excited to bring you more stories in the near future.”

Based on the bestselling novel by Carola Lovering, the series follows Lucy and Stephen, who meet in college at a time when seemingly ordinary choices can carry lasting consequences. What begins as a typical campus relationship evolves into an intense entanglement that unfolds over eight years, shaping not only their lives but those of the people around them.

The cancellation of Tell Me Lies serves as a conclusion to the series, and it will not be shopped elsewhere for Season 4.
