The long-running animated comedy will continue with 50 more episodes.
South Park is extending its run in a major way. Paramount Global, Park County, and South Park Digital Studios have announced a new deal with co-creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that will keep the series on the air for five more years.
The expansive renewal includes 50 new episodes and ensures the long-running animated comedy will continue airing on Comedy Central and Paramount+ through the next half-decade.
As part of the agreement, Paramount+ will become the U.S. streaming home for the entire South Park library and all new episodes – a first for the franchise. New episodes will debut on Comedy Central, followed by streaming availability on Paramount+ the next day.
Since premiering on August 13, 1997, South Park has become one of television’s most enduring animated comedies. The series has been recognized with Emmy® and Peabody® Awards, with Parker and Stone continuing to lead as executive producers alongside Anne Garefino and Frank C. Agnone II.
Chris McCarthy, Co-CEO of Paramount Global and President of Showtime/MTV Entertainment, said:
“Matt and Trey are singular, creative forces whose fearless humor and boundary pushing storytelling have made South Park one of the most beloved and enduring series ever – more popular today than at any point in its history, and one of the most valuable TV franchises in the world. They are exceptional talents and trusted partners – we’re thrilled that Comedy Central and now Paramount+ globally will be the home to South Park for years to come.”
Matt Stone, said:
“Trey and I and the whole South Park crew are grateful for this extension and this deal. We want to thank Chris McCarthy and Keyes Hill-Edgar for years of great partnership and are looking forward to continuing to make South Park for the next five years.
Added Trey Parker:
“We are grateful for this opportunity and deeply honored by the trust placed in us. This is about more than a contract – it’s about our commitment to this organization, our teammates, and our fans. We’re focused on building something special and doing whatever it takes to bring championships to this city.”
Expect South Park Season 28 to premiere in 2026 on Comedy Central.
