House of the Dragon Renewed For Season 4 + A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms S2

HBO has renewed both A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms and House of the Dragon, locking in multiple years of new Game of Thrones universe content through 2028.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has been picked up for Season 2 ahead of its series premiere on January 18, 2026, marking an early vote of confidence. The second season is expected to arrive in 2027. The half-hour drama follows the adventures of Ser Duncan “Dunk” the Tall and young Egg, adapted from George R.R. Martin’s beloved “Dunk and Egg” novellas. Season 1 stars Peter Claffey and Dexter Sol Ansell, with direction from Owen Harris and Sarah Adina Smith. Martin and co-creator Ira Parker lead the creative team.

Meanwhile, House of the Dragon has secured a Season 4 renewal well ahead of the show’s Season 3 premiere, which is set for summer 2026. Season 4 is targeted for 2028, continuing HBO’s long-term expansion of the Targaryen saga. Led by co-creator Ryan Condal and George R.R. Martin, the fantasy drama remains one of the network’s biggest global draws.

HBO said of the renewals:

“We are thrilled to be able to deliver new seasons of these two series for the next three years. Together, House of the Dragon and A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms reveal just how expansive and richly imagined George R.R. Martin’s universe continues to be.”

With these renewals, HBO cements its Westeros future across multiple eras well into the second half of the decade.
