Boots Cancelled On Netflix – No Season 2

The military comedy-drama will not return for a second season.

Netflix has cancelled Boots after one season. The streamer has opted not to move forward with a second season of the military dramady, nine weeks after its freshman debut.

Based on the book “The Pink Marine,” Boots, is set in the tough, unpredictable world of the 1990s US Marine Corps – when being gay in the military was still illegal – the series follows directionless, closeted Cameron Cope and his best friend Ray McAffey, the son of a decorated Marine, as they join a diverse group of recruits. Together, this ensemble navigates the literal and metaphorical landmines of boot camp, forging unlikely bonds and discovering their true selves in an environment designed to push them to their limits.

Speaking earlier this year, series lead Miles Heizer was hopeful for the prospect of Boots Season 2, and well beyond, saying:

“There are a lot of stories to tell, from more of Greg’s different experiences in the Marines to Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, to when it was repealed. I would do it for 10 seasons if they let us.”

As it is, Boots will not return for a second season, and there’s no suggestion of it being shopped away from Netflix.
