Widow's Bay Renewed For Season 2 On Apple TV
Apple TV+ has renewed Widow’s Bay for a second season ahead of the show’s first-season finale.
The renewal arrives as Apple continues to build on the success of the genre-bending mystery series created by Katie Dippold and starring Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys. Apple also announced a new multi-year overall deal with Dippold, further signaling confidence in both the series and its creative direction.
Since premiering, Widow’s Bay has quickly established itself as one of Apple TV+’s breakout newcomers. The series earned Certified Fresh status on Rotten Tomatoes and has attracted strong critical praise, with reviewers describing it as one of the year’s standout new shows and one of the most unique series currently streaming.
Set on a remote island where local legends may be more fact than fiction, the series follows Mayor Tom Loftis as he attempts to revive his struggling community by attracting tourism. However, long-dismissed stories of curses and unexplained events begin resurfacing, threatening both the island’s future and Loftis’ ambitions.
Apple’s head of programming, Matt Cherniss, said audiences have embraced the show’s blend of mystery, comedy and supernatural intrigue since its debut, while creator Katie Dippold jokingly teased that season two will be about how “everything is great on the island and there’s nothing to worry about.”
The early renewal gives fans reassurance that the story will continue beyond the upcoming season finale and suggests Apple views the series as a key part of its growing original programming lineup.

About Widow’s Bay
“Widow’s Bay” is a quaint island town 40 miles off the coast of New England. But something lurks beneath the surface. Mayor Tom Loftis (Matthew Rhys) is desperate to revive his struggling community.
