M.I.A. has been cancelled by Peacock after one season, with the streamer opting not to proceed with a second season of the crime drama.

The decision comes four months after the series released its nine-episode first season.

Created, written and executive produced by Bill Dubuque, M.I.A. premiered May 7 with all nine hour-long episodes released simultaneously. The series received an additional promotional push from NBC, which aired a special presentation of the first episode on May 14.

The crime drama follows Etta Tiger Jonze (Shannon Gisela), whose family’s drug-running business is threatened by tragedy, forcing her into Miami’s criminal underworld as she uses her intelligence and instincts to survive.

The series was notable for being set and filmed in Miami, giving the production a distinctive South Florida setting.

Cary Elwes, Danay Garcia, Brittany Adebumola, Dylan Jackson, Alberto Guerra, Maurice Compte, Gerardo Celasco and Marta Milans also starred.

M.I.A. Season 2 will not be shopped to other platforms or outlets.
