The English Teacher Cancelled On FX – No Season 3

FX pulls the plug on the comedy series after two seasons

FX has cancelled The English Teacher after two seasons, bringing the comedy to an end less than two months after its sophomore finale.

The half-hour series starred creator Brian Alvarez as Evan Marquez, a well-meaning high school English teacher whose attempts to “do the right thing” often created chaos for himself and his colleagues.

While FX did not provide a reason for the cancellation, the show faced scrutiny earlier this year following sexual assault allegations against Alvarez made by former colleague Jon Ebeling.

The English Teacher struggled to build sustainable momentum at FX during a period when the network has been tightening its comedy slate and shifting focus toward higher-priority dramas and limited series. The cancellation ends the show after 20 episodes across two seasons, with both seasons remaining available to stream on Hulu.
