Sheriff Country Renewed For Season 2 On CBS

The freshman crime drama has copped an early pick-up.

CBS has renewed Sheriff Country for a second season. The early pickup comes as the freshman drama continues to perform strongly on Friday nights, averaging 7.6 million viewers in Nielsen live-plus-seven multiplatform ratings; a 33% improvement in the time period compared to S.W.A.T. last fall. The show has also been a consistent winner at 8:00 PM Fridays, helping CBS secure steady weekly victories.

The series is set in small-town Edgewater, California, and follows Sheriff Mickey Fox as she balances criminal investigations with complicated family dynamics. The cast includes Morena Baccarin, Matt Lauria, W. Earl Brown, Christopher Gorham, and Michele Weaver.

CBS Entertainment president Amy Reisenbach praised the strong launch, noting that audiences “quickly embraced Sheriff Country across broadcast and streaming,” crediting “character-driven storytelling” and the talent behind the series as key factors in its early success.

Elsewhere on the network, Boston Blue has also been picked up for a second season.

Sheriff Country Season 2 will premiere in 2026-2027 season on CBS. Before then, the show’s midseason premiere is on February 27, 2026.
