Did You Know?: The Hunting Wives Season Two
Filming Is Officially Underway
Netflix has confirmed that Season 2 of The Hunting Wives is now in production, and yes, Sophie, Margo, and Margo’s wig are all returning. The hit thriller, produced by Lionsgate Television and 3 Arts Entertainment, is gearing up for another twist-filled chapter after its breakout success in the U.S.
Season 1 premiered on July 21, 2025, exclusively on Netflix U.S., where it spent five consecutive weeks in the Global English Top 10 TV list, earning 20 million views despite being limited to one territory. Season 2, however, will be released as a fully branded global Netflix series in nearly every country where Netflix operates, marking the show’s shift into international reach.
Returning Cast & Characters
Season 2 brings back key fan favorites including Brittany Snow, Malin Akerman, Jaime Ray Newman, Dermot Mulroney, Evan Jonigkeit, and George Ferrier. Also confirmed are returning supporting players:
- Karen Rodriguez as Deputy Salazar
- Hunter Emery as Deputy Flynn
- Branton Box reprising Sheriff Johnny
Additional cast members will be announced later as production continues.
The series remains under the creative direction of Rebecca Cutter (Hightown), who returns as creator, showrunner, writer, and executive producer. Executive producers also include Erwin Stoff (3 Arts Entertainment) and author May Cobb, whose bestselling novel inspired the series.
Season 2’s Dangerous New Game
The Season 2 logline promises an even darker, more obsessive chapter. Sophie and Margo begin the season “on the outs,” their friendship fractured after the fallout of Season 1’s betrayals. But new enemies and resurfacing secrets force the women back together, blurring the line between partnership and rivalry. As their toxic games escalate, one question looms: Are they the hunters… or the hunted?
The second season will consist of eight episodes, filmed in the United States, and leans deeper into the glossy Southern Gothic atmosphere that made the first season so addictive.
UK Release Explained
Many fans outside the U.S., particularly in the UK, wondered why The Hunting Wives was not available on Netflix internationally. Season 1’s distribution rights were initially licensed only for the U.S., which is why it never launched on Netflix UK.
However, UK fans won’t have to wait much longer:
Season 1 will debut on ITVX in the UK on December 27, 2025, releasing all eight episodes just in time for the festive binge-watching season.
Season 2 will launch globally on Netflix when completed, meaning UK audiences will get the same release window as the U.S.
